Common Causes of Slow Networks
Slow internet can be caused by bandwidth saturation, DNS issues, router problems, or ISP throttling. Here's how to identify and fix each.
Step 1: Test Your Speed
Run speed tests at different times:
- Use
speedtest.netorfast.com - Test during peak and off-peak hours
 - Compare results to your ISP plan speed

Step 2: Check for Bandwidth Hogs
Use Resource Monitor in Windows to identify processes consuming bandwidth:
- Open Task Manager
 - Go to Performance tab ? Open Resource Monitor
 - Check Network tab for high-usage processes

Step 3: Test DNS Performance
Switch to Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
OR
Primary DNS: 1.1.1.1
Secondary DNS: 1.0.0.1
Step 4: Update Router Firmware
Outdated router firmware can cause performance issues. Check your router manufacturer's website for updates.
Step 5: Check for Packet Loss
ping 8.8.8.8 -n 100
If packet loss exceeds 2%, contact your ISP or check your network cables.
Quick Wins
- Restart your router and modem
 - Use wired connection instead of WiFi when possible
 - Position router centrally and away from interference
 - Disable unused devices from your network
